Figures

I love working with the figure and I try to capture the unique attitude of each subject.

Depending on the nature of the mood I wish to represent, I may choose to work with acrylics, oils, watercolors , or pastels.

I have done commissioned portraits of children and adults.  Contact me for more information.

Landscapes

During my travels, I like to keep my camera and sketchbook handy to record information for later work in my studio.  I sometimes do small paint studies on site

using watermedia.

Upon moving to Georgia several  years ago, I decided to do a series of paintings of the state parks.  These can be viewed under the heading "State Parks".

Still Life

Creating small worlds of color, texture, and form is what draws me to compose my still life paintings.

Light is another important consideration in this genre.  Acrylics and pastels aare my favorite mediums for this work.

Fabric/Ironing Boards

My ironing board series of seven pieces was concieved as a tribute to the women of influence in my life and the work of their hands and hearts.

The fabric series was inspired by my purchase of fabric samples.  Their abstract designs and color schemes brought images to my mind which ranged from figures to animals and landscapes.

Genesis Series

My inspiration for this series came from the first chapter of Genesis in the Bible.

Using thinned down acrylic paint, I began with pours and washes of color, and then added surface line and texture.

Abstraction was my choice of style to express the mysteries of "In the beginning...", the Biblical story of God's creation of the world.
